Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic

Recurrent miscarriage takes a considerable emotional toll. We understand how emotionally draining this can be and have the most qualified staff available to support you. We run a dedicated multidisciplinary recurrent miscarriage clinic. We also have preconception clinic that runs in conjunction with our recurrent miscarriage clinic to provide a complete and holistic approach to your treatment.

Dr Neerja Kamal speaks about recurrent miscarriage and how a dedicated clinic may help

What is recurrent miscarriage?

Recurrent miscarriage is when a patient has miscarried three or more times, even though they may not have had difficulty conceiving. This usually happens in the first trimester of pregnancy, but it can occur later.

What causes recurrent miscarriage?

Miscarriage is sadly very common. Though many patients go on to have healthy babies, it is estimated between 1% and 5% of women suffer from recurrent miscarriages, and in about half of these cases, no obvious cause can be found.

However, research shows us that a dedicated clinic provides better emotional support for patients who suffer recurrent miscarriage, and it is more likely to lead to a successful pregnancy.

What should patients attending the clinic expect?

Patients should expect an in-depth discussion of their medical history and lifestyle, and a review of previous results and treatment. Additional tests may also be required. Once we have a thorough understanding of your situation, we’ll recommend the next steps.
